I’ve been interested in UFOs since I was a kid, so when I was offered a chance to join the Society for UAP Studies (SUAPS), I accepted immediately. I’m excited to be a part of SUAPS because its serious researchers are transforming the study of unidentified aerospace/anomalous phenomena into a rigorous academic field.
Even better, I’m excited to be SUAPS’s Director of Education and to be able to contribute to the Society’s mission with my experience as a university professor in philosophy. As an educator, I enjoy bringing into the light ideas and knowledge and opening them to broader discussion. For SUAPS, I will be active in building an educational service that delivers a center for critical thinking and dialogue about UAPs for academic, scientific, and public audiences.
I’m very pleased to announce a major and never-before-seen public education initiative on UAP studies. The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) seminar series establishes the first open-access, academically rigorous seminar series in UAP studies.
In regular MOOC seminars, experts from a variety of disciplines will present to the public their latest research and share their methodologies and thinking about how we can study and learn about UAPS. Members of the public will gain insights into what SUAPS experts’ current, ongoing research reveals about the nature and mystery of anomalous phenomena.
Even better is that the MOOC seminars will be an open forum that respectfully includes the public in the conversation about UAPs. Seminar lecturers will take UAP studies out of the realm of rumor and sensationalism and into the realm of serious inquiry into UAP research methodologies. The seminars will educate participants and build trust with the public, while establishing the Society as a central convener of expert-led, open discourse on UAP research.
The MOOC series is designed for anyone interested in serious inquiry into UAPs. While some familiarity with the topic may be helpful, no specialized background is required. Everyone is welcome.
The MOOC seminar series will be free to the public in February and March and then available to members of SUAPS. Please consider becoming a paid member of SUAPS to support the Society’s ongoing mission to transform UAP Studies into a recognized academic field that will unravel the mysteries of the phenomena.
I hope you will join me in this groundbreaking initiative.
Best Regards,
Dr. Douglas Giles
